Insurance Rate Changes Effective September 1, 2010

Statement from BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee:

The Cumberland Emergency Physicians group, serving patients of the Summit Medical Center in Nashville, has elected to withdraw from the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee provider Network P.

Caremark & Blue Cross medication policy change

Effective July 1, 2010 pharmacy coverages provided with current MAC B coverage will end and change to MAC A coverage.

Under the old coverage, if a Brand drug is dispensed when a Generic equivalent is available, the Generic co-pay plus the cost difference between the Brand drug and the Generic drug will be paid by the patient, unless the physician writes “dispense as written” on the script, then the applicable Brand co-pay would apply.

Under MAC A which becomes effective on 7/1/10, the “dispense as written” accommodation is eliminated, and the Generic co-pay plus the cost difference between the Brand drug and the Generic drug will apply and will be the responsibility of the patient.
